I am observing 1st graders at Milbrook Elementary School, where I mediately noticed that the students were constantly full of energy. With this said, I decided to make brain break activities that the students could pick from when their teachers allows them to take a break from school work. This gives the student's the opportunity to get some of that energy out and do a variety of activities. The teacher can use these brain breaks as rewards if the students finish their work early, or even just if they notice a student has a little extra energy one day.
Brain breaks connects to the UDL guidelines because it provides multiple means of engagement. The students will feel motived to finish their work, so they can have the fun brain breaks. Brain breaks will also get the students excited about going to school! |
